This is What an iPhone 6 Looks Like When it’s Dropped from Space

When the iPhone 6 was first released a flurry of “drop test” videos stormed the internet, in order to show particularly clumsy folk what the device would look like if they dropped it from 10 feet, 20 feet, 30 feet and so on. However, the above video takes the drop test to the extreme, dropping Apple’s latest smartphone from its greatest height yet – space.

The video, part of a campaign to advertise the durable Urban Armor Gear composite iPhone case, shows the device travelling above the Earth’s atmosphere before being dropped from a height of over 101,000 feet, enduring temperatures as cold as as -79 degrees Fahrenheit and winds as strong as 70 MPH, along with 150rpm spins. The temperature killed its battery but the iPhone 6, aided in its descent by a parachute, held up well despite its flight rig being destroyed in the fall.

All in all it’s a rather convincing advertisement campaign for the iPhone case, even though it’s unlikely the average consumer will ever be concerned about dropping their device from the edge of space.

You can purchase the cases from Urban Armor Gear’s website, with prices starting from $34.95.
