New Smartphone Batteries Change In 30 Seconds

An Israeli company is claiming to have developed the answer to the dreaded ‘low battery’ smartphone symbol.

Tel Aviv-based StoreDot is behind new technology capable of fully charging a smartphone in 30 seconds.

Backed by Russian billionaire and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, the company utilises nanotechnology, allowing batteries to absorb large amounts of power at a rapid rate.

Unfortunately, the revolutionary StoreDot battery is currently too bulky for smartphone cases, however the company is aiming to have a smaller unit ready by 2016.

“These are new materials, they have never been developed before,” StoreDot founder Doron Myersdorf said of the battery.

The unique “nanodot” technology is relatively cheap to manufacture and has roughly a three-year life cycle.

The adaptable technology also features the potential to one day charge electric cars within minutes.

“We live in a power hungry world … people are constantly chasing a power outlet. StoreDot has the potential to solve this real big problem,” phone analyst Zack Weisfeld told TechMistory.com.

“They still have some way to go, to deal with size of battery and power cycle rounds, but if solvable, it’s a very big breakthrough.”
