Kim Kardashian’s Ass was a Bigger Trending Topic than the Comet Landing

The images of a naked Kim Kardashian printed in Paper Magazine earlier this week proved to be a hotter trending topic than the landing of the European Space Agency’s (Esa) satellite on Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, and the internet is now wallowing in self-hatred.

The satellite concluded its 10-year journey on Wednesday (November 12th), travelling 6.4 billion-km in order to place the robot probe Phalae on its surface, which has already begun posting photos of its expedition such as the one below:

Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian showed us all her buttocks on the back cover of Paper Magazine. You can see that image below, too:

At the time of this writing, #WeCanLandOnACometButWeCant is currently the largest trending topic in the United States, while #BreakTheInternet, the hashtag associated with the Kim Kardashian cover, is the second largest trending topic.

However, that wasn’t the case yesterday, as Miss Kanye West was the talking point of the entire internet while poor Rosetta was shunned out of the spotlight.

Of the discrepancy in the amount of discussion between both of these life-changing events, Twitter user Jake Bryan wrote: “Guys Europeans landed a spacecraft on a comet yesterday and all I’ve seen on social media is about Kim Kardashian posing in some racy photos.”

Rachel Brosnahan was equally baffled, writing: “So while Kim Kardashian was breaking the internet, some crazy brilliant humans landed a space probe on a comet. Casual.”

When the backside of a reality TV star is competing for attention alongside a ground-breaking voyage into space, you know you live in a strange time in the history of the world.
