When it comes to sex, men are the ones always complaining that they can never get enough of it. Either they don’t have much luck with the ladies, or their spouses simply aren’t all that giving. However, what about the opposite side of the spectrum? Can one have too much sex? The answer is somewhat individual, as we all have different levels of sensibility, but you should keep an eye out for a couple of things if you’re truly worried. Here they are.

Body

One of the first things people notice when they suspect they’re having too much sex is physical exhaustion. Let’s be honest, sex is quite a workout and, though some people are more capable than others, it is quite tiresome. That is the reason why there’s nothing more appealing than an hour or two of sleep afterward. Of course, tiredness is not the only symptom. Chances are, you’ll develop some form of soreness in the lower region due to heavy and frequent use. Depending on your sex habits, you could also be facing some friction injuries or malfunctions like impotence. All of this might be a clear sign that you should take it easy and abstain for a while till you get your full strength back.

Mind

You might not agree at first, but the fact is that, when it comes to sex, head plays quite an important part. Sexual arousal depends both on your sensual abilities and your creativity. If one of the two is starting to lag, it might be a time for a break. Sometimes young couples overdo it and actually fall into a routine where they focus on the quantity and forget about the quality. However, a week of relaxation and spontaneity might ignite some old flames and boost your nighttime creativity. An exhausted mind can also lead to impotence, loss of sexual desire, etc. Sometimes, a problem can arise if you change your partners too frequently and have lots of meaningless sex. Sure, it sounds like every guy’s dream, but it can actually take its toll on your sex life.

Symptoms of Addiction

On the other hand, if you feel like you’re having way too much sex, you could be dealing with a sex addiction. Truth be told, a lot of celebrities in the past few years have been using this diagnosis as an excuse for their reckless sexual behavior, but the condition is quite real. How do you know if you have it? Well, first of all, see if you’re unable to control that sex drive. Most sex addicts claim that they are unable to resist the urge and have to have copious amounts of sex all the time. If you can abstain for a decent amount of time (a week or month maybe), chances are you don’t have any real problems. The second thing you should check is whether you’re obsessing with it. Sex addicts just can’t think about anything else than sex. While men usually think about sex quite often, obsessing with it could be the sign of an addiction.

Counter Measures

So, you’ve determined that you’ve probably been having way too much sex, but what can you do about it? The first thing you need to do is talk to your partner about it. If it’s a long-term partner, explain the situation clearly and truthfully so that they would know what’s going on in your life. You can choose to skip this step but you risk hurting your relationship or your partner’s feelings. After that, discuss the possible abstinence period to help your body and mind recover from the strenuous work that is sex. During the break, think about the possible ways to spice up your sex life and make every encounter memorable. What you need to do is focus on the quality and not quantity. Before you know it, your sex life will be much more meaningful and exciting, as it should be.
