Grey Cup Events Announced

Organizers of the 103rd Grey Cup, which is taking place in Winnipeg for the fourth time in CFL history, recently announced the line-up of festivities leading up to and on big game day.

The Sheepdogs, along with Randy Bachman (of The Guess Who and Bachman Turner Overdrive), will both be performing throughout festival week, as will Loverboy and Dallas Smith. Comedian Gerry Dee (Mr. D) will also be at a gala dinner the Saturday night before the Grey Cup at the RBC Convention Centre.

“We have worked very hard to create an environment that all Manitobans can take part in, and believe we have a great mix of ticketed and free programming for both fans and families alike,” said Jason Smith, president of the 103rd Grey Cup Festival, to MetroNews.

“It’s going to bring a lot of excitement and economic activity to Winnipeg and were going to be excellent hosts of it. We’ve done it many times and we’ve always been very successful at it,” Premier Greg Selinger said (CBC News). “I’m really excited, City hall is really excited with the influx of visitors from across Canada. It’s another opportunity to showcase Winnipeg to the country and the world,” said Mayor Brian Bowman. Both men were at the official press conference announcing the Grey Cup line-up.

The Grey Cup takes place on November 29th at Investors Group Field.
