Supergirl and her famous cousin, Superman are known to be “faster than a speeding bullet.” But sometimes, pirates are faster.
Earlier this morning, a high quality copy of the Supergirl pilot was leaked online at various pirate sites. That in of itself is not unusual. Last year, The Flash pilot leaked around the same time and it has become a growing phenomena for other TV pilots.
However, this leaked copy of Supergirl reportedly has no watermarks at all, which has led to speculation that this was an intentional leak designed to generate publicity for the show. Even Deadline dryly remarked that “the news immediately made CBS look 15 years younger/hipper.”

Whether someone at CBS or Warner Bros. TV deliberately released the Supergirl pilot is now besides the point. It’s out there, months ahead of its broadcast debut. This actually worked out well for The Flash last year, as it weathered the leak of its pilot to become The CW’s biggest hit of the fall. But it will be a while before we see if the Supergirl pilot also benefits from the leak.
Supergirl is coming to TV with the creative team of Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler and Andrew Kreisberg. Berlanti and Kreisberg have previously brought The Flash and Arrow to The CW. The series stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl; with Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen; Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant; Chyler Leigh as Alexandra “Alex” Danvers; and David Harewood as Hank Henshaw.
Supergirl will officially debut this fall on CBS.
