Ichabod Crane and Abbie Mills will ride again next fall.
Deadline is reporting that Fox has renewed Sleepy Hollow for a third season after the series dropped in overall viewership from the first season to the second. Fox blamed the decline on the serialized storylines as the culprit for Sleepy Hollow’s decline, which led to the renewed focus on episodic storytelling that made the second part of the season creatively shaky.
As part of the renewal, Fox named Clifton Campbell as the new showrunner of Sleepy Hollow to replace the outgoing showrunner Mark Goffman who ran the series for the first two seasons.

Cambell is best known for creating The Glades on A&E and for his run as an executive producer on White Collar for USA. In a statement, Fox entertainment president David Madden sand “[Campbell] is an excellent producer, and we can’t wait to see what this team has in store for Season Three.”
Given the events of the second season finale of Sleepy Hollow, John Noble and Katia Winter are unlikely to return. It’s also unclear if Matt Barr will return to his role as Nick Hawley after Hawley was written out of the season in his last appearance.
Fox has previously renewed Gotham, Empire and Brooklyn Nine-Nine for new seasons. The Fall 2015 Fox TV schedule will be announced in May.
