Diablo III Microtransactions Only Being Targeted At One Demographic Currently

Diablo III has garnered a massive cult following that has its roots in the two Diablo games that preceded it ten years before. The West loves the series very much and would like sell its collective soul to Blizzard to ensure future and continuing support on current and potential upcoming Diablo games.

For some context, let’s bring up one little blunder that didn’t go over so well with initial adopters of Diablo III. Remember the RMAH (Real Money Auction House)? After a while, it became a joke and the bane of Blizzard’s existence because of the ability to use real money to buy and sell your way through the game. Needless to say, the Western world didn’t take to it very kindly; it was eventually shut down. (Did you ever buy or sell anything in the RMAH?)

It seems Blizzard truly caught wind of things and feels that only the Asian market is receptive enough to microtransactions to warrant the new features, due to this statement that makes a strong omission:

Some new features may start to show up in data mined information for patch 2.2.0 that will… not apply to the Americas (and Europe)

Head on over to our friends at Destructoid for the latest on Diablo III and its future changes that will likely only hit overseas in Asia.
