Jim Starlin’s Dreadstar Is Coming To TV

Writer and artist Jim Starlin is well known for his Marvel Comics featuring Captain Marvel, Adam Warlock, Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet, one of his passion projects was a series called Dreadstar.

Today, Universal Cable Productions and Benderspink announced that Dreadstar is being developed as a TV series, with Starlin attached as an executive producer and a writer.

First published by Marvel’s Epic Comic imprint in 1982, Dreadstar was Starlin’s creator owned comic book that followed Vanth Dreadstar, the last survivor of the Milky Way Galaxy who found himself in a new galaxy torn apart by two warring intergalactic factions: the Monarchy and the Church of The Instrumentality. To end the war, Dreadstar was joined by a group of renegades who attempted to undermine both sides.

“I consider ‘Dreadstar’ to be an extension of my family, so it took me a while to feel comfortable letting anyone else take care of this project,” explained Starlin in the announcement. “It has taken some time, but I know I’ve put my trust in the right team and I’m excited to collaborate with Universal Cable Productions and Benderspink to bring ‘Dreadstar’s’ unique brand of chaos to television.”

Although Dreadstar is not currently attached to a network, Syfy seems like a natural fit for the potential series. Keep checking CraveOnline for more updates on Dreadstar, if the series goes forward.
