James Franco Will Star In Hulu’s 11/22/63

In the world of original programming for streaming services, Hulu has been overshadowed by Netflix and Amazon Prime. But it looks like Hulu is about to up its game.

Hulu and Warner Bros. TV have announced that James Franco has been cast in the lead role of 11/22/63, a nine hour event miniseries based upon Stephen King’s novel of the same name.

Franco will star in 11/22/63 as Jake Epping, a high school teacher who discovers a way to go back in time and formulates a plan to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. However, attempting to change the past leads to disastrous consequences for Epping and the world itself.

Franco most recently starred in The Interview and he was nominated for Best Actor for his role in 127 Hours. His other notable starring turns came in the first Spider-Man trilogy, OZ: The Great and Powerful and Spring Breakers. Franco has also hosted the Oscars and recurred on General Hospital as a serial killer.

11/22/63 is being produced by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. TV. Franco will also serve as a producer of the 11/22/63 miniseries.

Hulu has not yet announced a premiere date for 11/22/63.
