‘Saw’ Screenwriters Take a Stab at the Next ‘Halloween’

Ready for more Michael Myers?

The Hollywood Reporter recently announced that the 11th Halloween film in the works (which is also the third in the rebooted version of the series) will be written by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, the screenwriters of Saw IV, Saw V, Saw VI, and Saw 3D. Melton and Dunstan are also behind the screenplays for Piranha 3DD, and the upcoming film versions of God of WarThe Outer Limits and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

A director for the newest Halloween film has yet to be determined. Rob Zombie famously directed the previous two installments in 2007 and in 2009, but has since left the franchise to work on music and original films like Lords of Salem. Director Patrick Lussier was once working on an installment called Halloween 3D, but that fell through several years ago, and is likely abandoned. There is no word yet as to the story or the tone of this new Halloween, but representatives have been calling it not a reboot, a remake, or a reimagining. They are calling it a “recalibration.”

We’re not sure exactly what that means. But if a visit from Michael Myers is involved, we’ll keep an open mind.
