Back in 2013, The CW began developing an updated take on “Tales From The Darkside” that would have retained the half hour anthology format of the original series. But today, the word is that the format has changed.
Deadline is reporting that The CW has ordered a pilot for “Tales From The Darkside” as a one hour drama. The original “Tales From The Darkside” series was created by horror icon George Romero in 1984 and it ran for four seasons in syndication before spawning a feature film of the same name.
“Tales From The Darkside” was similar to “The Twilight Zone” and “Tales From The Crypt,” but it often veered more towards black comedy while exploring horror, science fiction and fantasy. The series featured stories by Stephen King, Clive Barker, Harlan Ellison and several of the top writers from each genre.

For the new incarnation of “Tales From The Darkside,” “Sleepy Hollow” co-creators Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci are reteaming with horror writer Joe Hill. The trio previously collaborated on Fox’s adaptation of Hill’s comic book series “Locke & Key,” which did not get past the pilot stage.
“Tales From The Darkside” will be in contention for a slot on The CW’s Fall 2015 TV schedule.
