Kyle MacLachlan Returns To ‘Twin Peaks’ In 2016

Last year, David Lynch and Mark Frost made the surprise announcement that Twin Peaks would return for a limited run on Showtime twenty five years after the series was abruptly canceled by ABC.

Kyle MacLachlan headlined the original run of Twin Peaks as FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper. And in the final episode of the series, Cooper was apparently trapped in the otherworldly Black Lodge while a demonic entity took over his body.

That’s long been considered one of TV’s biggest unresolved cliffhangers…but not anymore! David Lynch has announced that MacLachlan has signed on to appear in the new Twin Peaks limited series.

While appearing at the Television Critics Association Press Tour, MacLachlan said “I’m very excited to return to the strange and wonderful world of Twin Peaks. May the forest be with you.”

Currently, MacLachlan is appearing on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Calvin Zebo aka Mister Hyde. The Twin Peaks miniseries will begin filming later in 2015, with all nine episodes slated to premiere in 2015. Although MacLachlan is the first actor from the original series to sign on, he probably won’t be the last.
