The CW Renews ‘The Flash,’ ‘Arrow,’ ‘Supernatural’ And More

The renewal of a TV series is usually held for the end of a television season. But The CW isn’t playing that game this year.

At the Television Critics Association Press Tour. The CW officially announced the renewal of “The Flash,” “Arrow,” “Supernatural,” “The 100,” “The Vampire Diaries,” “The Originals,” “Reign” and “Jane the Virgin.” This leaves only the fate of “Beauty & The Beast” and “Hart of Dixie” up in the air before The CW unveils its midseason series.

On this list of renewed shows, “Supernatural” is the last remaining holdover from the WB Network, as it enters its eleventh season next fall.

In a statement, The CW’s President, Mark Pedowitz said “Each of these series have helped define what The CW is today, a network that is home to smart, provocative, quality programming, targeting a savvy adult audience. By picking up these shows now, our executive producers can start planning next season’s storylines, and rolling these shows out throughout next season guarantees The CW will have more proven original series for our fall, midseason and summer 2016 line-ups.”

Pedowitz also indicated that the crossovers between “The Flash” and “Arrow” will be an annual event, “in the vein of a Doctor Who Christmas special.” However, smaller scale crossovers between the show will also happen throughout the year as the cast and guest stars will occasionally go back and forth.
