Would Jim Carrey Reprise His Role as the Riddler? Here’s What He Had to Say

MTV UK recently had an interview with Jim Carrey, who was promoting the international release of Dumb and Dumber To, and naturally the focus turned to DC Comics because of all the film announcements. When asked if he’d reprise his role as the Riddler, from Batman Forever, the answer given sorta resided in a grey area, but with some enthusiasm:

I’d love to work in the new, graphic novel versions of the movie. I don’t know about reprising the role, I don’t know if Chris Nolan would go for that. I’d love to work with him.

As you can see, Carrey is interested in the darker, newer style of super hero films. His old goofy and light hearted version of the Riddler wouldn’t exactly fit in with the gritty and realistic Nolan-directed movies. He’s not blind to the fact that super hero cinema has begun to take itself a little more seriously; whatever role he would potentially take on nowadays or in the future would probably be more sinister. Not that Carrey isn’t capable of fitting into that mold, but many might feel that casting him wouldn’t be appropriate because of his slapstick past.

So, what do you think? Would you be interested in seeing Jim Carrey cast in a DC Comics super hero film sometime in the future? Do you think he’d be able to use his given skills in a grittier style of movie?
