Exclusive Preview: The New 52: Futures End # 22

Hypothetical situation: if you found out that someone stepped in for the world’s greatest superhero after they were either dead or MIA, wouldn’t you be grateful? In the DC Universe five years from now,  Shazam took on the role of the Masked Superman and he kept some semblance of hope alive by wearing the “S” symbol of Superman.

Of course, the citizens of Metropolis and the world were completely understanding and grateful to Shazam once the truth was revealed… Well actually no, they really weren’t. Lois Lane’s headline making story about Shazam’s time in the Masked Superman identity has only made things worse.

In this exclusive preview from The New 52: Futures End # 22, Jason Rusch (one half of the superhero known as Firestorm) gets a first hand look at how someone close to him reacts to the Shazam news. And there could be some dire repercussions to come from a very supervillain-like monologue by Jason’s boss.

Brian Azzarello, Keith Giffen, Dan Jurgens and Jeff Lemire continue their weekly story with artist Patrick Zircher in The New 52: Futures End # 22, which will be out in comic stores on Wednesday, October 1.
