Resurrection’s Mark Hildreth Is A Jack Of All Trades

Acting, singing, Mark Hildreth of “Resurrection” does it all, and now he’s back as the drama was renewed for a second season, which will premiere on September 28th at 9pm. The series averaged 9 million viewers in its first season, and will keep them glued to their screens for another run. He took time out of his busy schedule to let Crave readers in on his acting and music careers, and what he does to blow off some steam.

CraveOnline: What’s in store for Season 2 of Resurrection?

Mark Hildreth: In season 1 of “Resurrection,” everything went upside down for the residents of Arcadia. After Jacob returned, nothing was ever going to be the same again. Then there was Caleb, and then Rachel, and that was just the beginning. None of the characters knew what to believe after all that happened. So the first season was about “what does this all mean?”.

Season 2 of “Resurrection” is going to be more about “What do we do about it?”. Tom has to grapple with being in-between his loving wife and his long-lost love (who is pregnant with his child), Bellamy has to come to grips with his backstory and his role with the government, and the Langston family will have to start to deal with the arrival of a HUGE new character who will threaten to tear apart everything as the know it. The stakes for the residents of Arcadia in Season 2 of “Resurrection” are going to go through the roof!

Any other projects in the pipeline?

Right now all my focus is on “Resurrection” and how to make it the best show we possibly can make. I’m also working on a couple of movie scripts, writing a new album and playing live here in Atlanta where we film. I work with a number of amazing humanitarian organizations making the world a better place, and taking care of my french bulldog whom I love dearly (maybe my most important “project!”).

You’re also a musician? Can you tell us about your most recent musical projects?

I have released two full-length albums as an independent singer/songwriter. I taught myself to play Beethoven when I was 10 years old and have been making music ever since. I released Complex State Of Attachment in 2008 and Signs Of Life in 2013. They are both available on iTunes and through my website (www.markhildreth.com). Imagine a sound right in between Elton John and Stevie Wonder and that’s what you’ll get in my records.

What draws you to each of these unique mediums (television, film, and music)?

I feel that, in their best form, artists are the moral compasses of society. It’s up to us to tell stories that help people experience their own humanity more deeply. It’s the storytelling and the love I feel when I tell great stories that draws me to all of these mediums. Film and television are so amazing in that they create an entire world [where] you can immerse yourself, and the collaboration with all the other people you make a film or a TV show with is really special to me. Music allows me to tell my own stories in my own words and with my heart directly. So I love music for that.

You were born in Vancouver – do you live there now?

I was born and raised in Vancouver, but now I live in LA. And when we film “Resurrection,” I, of course, live in Atlanta.

When you’re not working, what do you do to blow off some steam?

Hit my piano! I also love to play golf. And I’m almost ALWAYS singing!
