HBO Releases Silicon Valley: The Complete First Season on Digital HD

For years, HBO has been known to hold back the home video release of its series until a new season begins. And while that strategy may still be in play for physical media, HBO is embracing a new plan for digital releases.

HBO’s Silicon Valley: The Complete First Season has been released on Digital HD via digital retailers barely two months after the first season finale. HBO has previously followed this strategy with “Girls” and it comes just a few weeks before “Silicon Valley” will compete for some of the top comedy prizes in the 2014 Emmy Awards.

Created by Mike Judge (Office Space), John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky, the series follows a group of computer programmers played by Thomas Middleditch, Josh Brener, Martin Starr and Kumail Nanjiani as they attempt to make it big in the highly competitive world of Silicon Valley.

T.J. Miller, Matt Ross, Amanda Crew, Zach Woods and the late Christopher Evan Welch also co-starred in the first season of “Silicon Valley.”

HBO will eventually announce its plans to release Silicon Valley: The Complete First Season on Blu-ray and DVD. A second season has already been announced and it will premiere in 2015 on HBO.
