Catch ABC’s Fresh Blood Before It’s Gone Forever


Time is running out to sneak in a final watch of your favourite Fresh Blood clips before the ABC removes them for good.

The catalogue of Fresh Blood highlights is set for expiration from the ABC website on Thursday, marking an end to the broadcaster’s comedy initiative.

Published weekly in June and July, the Fresh Blood search was launched last year as the ABC sought to identify Australia’s next batch of comedy stars, rewarding the short form successful applicants with a $10,000 budget to create their own sketches intended for ‘social sharing’.

Online entries include SAE Sydney Film student Ben French’s ‘AZIO – The Bogan Spy Agency’, which attracted thousands of subscribers and a couple of million YouTube hits.

“The online world is home to some great comedic talent. By partnering with the ABC in this forward thinking initiative we will expose emerging Australian sketch comedy to bigger audiences,” Screen Australia’s CEO Fiona Cameron said of the initiative last year.
