Kyle MacLachlan Joins ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Season 2

Twenty four years ago, Kyle MacLachlan starred in “Twin Peaks” on ABC. This fall, MacLachlan will be back on ABC for the second season of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” in a major role.

TVLine is reporting that MacLachlan is playing the father of Skye (Chloe Bennet). Although the character is currently unnamed, viewers caught a glimpse of Skye’s father in the first season finale of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” last May.

During the first season of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” it was revealed that Skye was an 0-8-4 — an object or individual of unknown origin — who was found in China by a S.H.I.E.L.D. team when she was an infant. The team and a town in China were nearly wiped out by two monsters that were searching for Skye. Raina (Ruth Negga) later admitted that the two monsters were Skye’s parents and she apparently has access to Skye’s father.

MacLachlan will recur in the role throughout the second season. Most recently, MacLachlan co-starred in NBC’s “Believe” and recurred in “Portlandia” in addition to occasionally appearing on “How I Met Your Mother.”

“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 2 will return to ABC on Tuesday, September 23.
