England Drop from 10th to 20th in FIFA Rankings Following World Cup Disaster

The official FIFA rankings have been released following the World Cup 2014, and it’s not looking good for England.

Prior to the tournament in Rio, Brazil, England were positioned in 10th place, but their abysmal performance has seen them now drop all the way down to 20th.

England failed to make their way out of the group stages in Brazil, finishing at the bottom of Group D after also losing to both Italy and Uruguay. This is a far cry from their record-high placing of third, which they managed to reach in 2012, and sees them only 7 places higher than lowest ever placing of 27th, a position which they dropped to in 1996.

Spain have also seen a huge change in their FIFA ranking, falling from 1st to 8th after also failing to make their way out of the group stages. Germany now sit atop the leaderboard after defeating Argentina to win the tournament.
