Vote: Best Player of the World Cup 2014

As the World Cup 2014 has come to an end, we’re now left wondering what we should do with our lives for the next 4 years.

In what will be remembered as one of the most exciting, unpredictable tournaments ever, Germany have rightfully lifted the trophy after a 1-0 victory against Argentina, with Lionel Messi failing to propel his nation to their third World Cup win.

So now that the dust has settled, there’s only one question left to answer: who was the very best player of the tournament? While Messi was officially branded the best player by FIFA, there were many other standout performances that have been somewhat overlooked. From Robben’s playmaking for Holland to James Rodriguez’s star turn for Colombia, there were many players who made a huge impact in Brazil. Even the likes of David Luiz, who performed admirably for the home nation before carrying the burden of their humiliating exit from the tournament on his shoulders, deserves a mention, as does the USA’s Tim Howard for his meme-generating superheroic display against Belgium, making the most saves in World Cup history.

Make your opinions known below by casting your vote in our poll. We should note that you can vote more than once, and can even downvote the players who you believe shouldn’t receive the acknowledgement.
