Robbie Amell Is Firestorm on ‘The Flash’

Somebody at The CW really likes Robbie Amell.

Only a few months after the end of Amell’s show, “The Tomorrow People” was canceled, DC and The CW have announced that Amell will portray Ronnie Raymond in “The Flash.” Raymond is best known to comic book fans as one half of Firestorm, The Nuclear Man. In The New 52 reboot, Raymond joins with Jason Rusch to become Firestorm. But as originally created by Gerry Conway and Al Milgrom, Firestorm was the combination of Raymond and Professor Martin Stein.

On “The Flash,” Raymond will be the fiancé of Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), who was feared to be dead after the particle accelerator accident that created the Flash. In the comics, Caitlin Snow is the villainess known as Killer Frost, who was an enemy of Firestorm.

“Geoff Johns, Andrew Kreisberg and myself designed the pilot and series to include Ronnie (aka Firestorm),” noted series co-creator Greg Berlanti. “And to actually have someone with Robbie’s talent playing the role is beyond exciting. We can’t wait for viewers and fans of the character to check it out.”

Amell has previously appeared in “Revenge,” “Unnatural History,” “True Jackson” and “Life With Derek.” He is also the younger cousin of “Arrow” star Stephen Amell.

On “The Flash,” Amell will recur throughout the first season. The series is scheduled to premiere on Tuesday, October 7 on The CW.
