Meredith & David Finch Take Over Wonder Woman

Since the beginning of DC’s New 52 relaunch, Wonder Woman has only had one primary creative team: Brian Azzarello and artist Cliff Chiang. But this October, the Azzarello and Chiang run will come to an end and a new creative team will take over.

DC has announced that superstar artist David Finch and his wife, Meredith Finch will guide Wonder Woman’s further adventures beginning with Wonder Woman # 35. Meredith Finch will be making her DC writing debut with this assignment.

The Finches will reportedly veer away from the heavy mythology favored by Azzarello and Chiang to concentrate on Wonder Woman’s relationships with the Amazons, her Justice League teammates and the ordinary people in her life.

Meredith Finch told USA Today that he take on Wonder Woman will be “a little more flawed. She doesn’t always necessarily have the answers… That’s one aspect of being a female writer I can bring to her. Women tend to react in a different way, and I can bring some of that reactionary (thinking), going from your heart sometimes more than from your head.”

She added that “I hope that between the two of us, we’ll be able to bring that balance so she’s got a really complex character as we go forward.”

Wonder Woman # 35 will be released in November.
