‘Community’ Season 6 May Come To Hulu

Earlier this month, Deadline ran a story entitled “Community Unlikely To Go Elsewhere,” which struck fear in the hearts of “Community” fans who had been hoping for a reprieve after NBC canceled it.

However, a new report on Deadline states that Hulu and Sony Pictures TV are in early talks about producing a sixth season of “Community.” The story goes on to note that it “is unclear whether [the talks] would lead to a deal, but I hear there is will on both sides.”

Hulu would be a natural home for “Community” since it already has the streaming rights for the first five seasons. Hulu has also been getting more aggressive about original programming and a pickup of “Community” would be a major step forward in that regard. Comedy Central has the cable syndication rights for “Community,” but that network doesn’t appear to currently be a player in the talks to revive the series.

“Community” creator Dan Harmon is reportedly willing to come back for a sixth season, but it’s unclear if the remaining “Community” cast members are still under contract. Gillian Jacobs was recently signed to a recurring role on the fourth season of HBO’s “Girls.” But Jacobs has also voiced a willingness to return to “Community” if the chance presents itself.

Keep the faith, Greendale Human Beings! It’s not over yet.
