Danny McBride Returns To HBO With New Comedy Series

In 2013, Danny McBride’s “Eastbound & Down” finished its four season run on HBO. But McBride has already booked his HBO comeback less than a year later.

McBride has re-teamed with “Eastbound & Down” co-creator Jody Hill for “Vice Principals,” a new HBO comedy series. McBride and Hill co-created “Vice Principals,” which will star McBride as one of the vice principals who runs a high school.

In a statement, HBO’s Michael Lombardo said  “Danny McBride and Jody Hill have created a smart, rowdy and unpredictable style of comedy that we can’t get enough of. The idea of them setting their minds on high school was irresistible.”

HBO has given “Vice Principals” a straight-to-series order of 18 episodes, which will be divided into multiple seasons. Former “Eastbound & Down” executive producers, David Gordon Green and Stephanie Laing will also serve in that capacity for “Vice Principals” alongside McBride and Hill.
