Shane Gillis has already landed a new project after Saturday Night Live backlash. Gillis’ latest skit with Danny McBride sees him adapting a hilariously funny weatherman.
In a four-minute-long commercial for the prediction market platform Kalshi, the 38-year-old actor is in charge of predicting the weather. Unfortunately, in most scenarios, Gillis gets all of his predictions wrong. However, McBride’s predictions turn out to be surprisingly accurate.
Trying to uncover how McBride makes such pinpoint predictions, Gillis dons a pantyhose mask to spy on McBride’s house. He sees the former offering rosemary potatoes and meatloaf to a mysterious oracle. Hoping to turn his fortunes, Gillis kidnaps the oracle in McBride’s absence only to find that the oracle was giving the predictions from the Kalshi app. The script for the commercial is written by McBride.
Why did Shane Gillis get backlash for his SNL monologue?
On October 10, 2026, Shane Gillis’ monologue drew widespread backlash, with viewers and critics calling it misogynistic. Even several public figures noted that Gillis unnecessarily degraded and sexualized women.
The 38-year-old comedian stated, “I haven’t been to the gym in so long, I didn’t know women just dress like whores now?” He further added, “You’ve seen the shorts? They’re those neon, like, artificial bait-colored [shorts], and the wrinkles go around the cheeks and all combine at the butthole. And don’t look! You’re not allowed to look.”
Adding to these remarks, Gillis further drew controversy for his edgy jokes on political polarization. He cracked a joke about how he feels that people are viewed as either “gay or Hitler” and referenced his own haircut. Before this unfolded, Gillis had previously made headlines back in 2019 when he was fired from the show for passing a racist and slurred comment.
