Xbox One Update Lets You Skype and Play Games — At the Same Time

Say what you will about the Xbox One and its shortcomings, but Microsoft and their partner apps are taking full advantage of the next-gen system’s power to start doing several of the things fans have been clamoring for.

Among those advancements is a new update from Skype on Xbox One, which allows your video or voice-only Skype calls to be conducted while you’re messing with other apps.

So if you’re currently smoking your cousin in Montana in Call of Duty and want to up the ante on the mockery by calling him on Skype and making faces while you continue the beating, now you can.

The new feature comes on the heels of the announcement that Skype will be one of the popular apps that’ll come out from behind the Xbox Live gold membership paywall next month.

While we agree with Crave gaming site Destructoid that the Skype-gaming pairing should have been included months ago, better now than never, we say.
