Patrick Stewart Will Headline New Comedy Series on STARZ

Twenty years ago, Patrick Stewart finished his seven season run on “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” While Stewart has occasionally returned to TV for guest roles and animation voice overs, he will once again headline his own television series.

STARZ has placed a massive, two season order for “Blunt Talk,” a new half hour comedy series starring Stewart as Walter Blunt, a British TV personality bent on conquering the realm of American cable news. According to the description from the network, “Blunt is on a mission to impart his wisdom and guidance on how Americans should live, think and behave.” So, kind of like Piers Morgan before CNN sent him packing.

“Blunt Talk” was created by Jonathan Ames (“Bored To Death”) and it will be executive produced by Ames and “Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane. Stewart has played CIA Deputy Director Avery Bullock on MacFarlane’s ‘American Dad” for ten seasons. Stewart was also the narrator of Ted, MacFarlane’s directorial debut.

Each of the two seasons of “Blunt Talk” will be ten episodes each. The series will likely premiere in 2015.
