Ted 3: Seth MacFarlane Comedy Sequel Movie Gets Hopeful Update from Mark Wahlberg

Mark Wahlberg has given hope to Ted franchise fans as he has given an exciting update on Ted 3. In a recent video with the streamer N3on, the actor reportedly confirmed that there is a possibility of Ted 3 in the future. Though Universal is yet to officially comment on the making of Ted 3, fans are hopeful about the possibility of the reunion of Mark Wahlberg with Seth MacFarlane.

The Ted franchise could reunite Mark Wahlberg and Seth MacFarlane

In N3on’s YouTube video titled ‘N3on Survives Mark Wahlberg’s 4 AM Morning Routine’, N3on asked Wahlberg about the possibility of Ted 3. To which Wahlberg replied, “You know what we are doing right now.. we are doing the Ted animated series.” He added, “You know, Seth MacFarlane does Family Guy and all that stuff. He’s the creator of Ted. So, we may come back with the third. We may come back.”

It is a major update on the film, as it has been more than a decade since Ted 2 (2015) was released in the theaters. Mark Wahlberg played the role of John Bennett in the Ted franchise. MacFarlane created the franchise, directed and produced both films, and gave his voice to Ted, John’s teddy bear best friend. Ted (2012) earned $549.4 million worldwide, and Ted 2 made $216 million worldwide. Despite its success at the global box office, the franchise hasn’t announced a third installment yet.

Seth MacFarlane went on to make a prequel TV series of Ted with Peacock. The show is set in the 90s, and Max Burkholder played the role of teenage John. The show has 2 seasons, and the latest one premiered on March 5, 2026. In an interview with Deadline, MacFarlane talked about the future of the Ted franchise. He said, “It really is up to Peacock with their, you know, vast amounts of big Scrooge McDuck money that they dive into every day.” He added, “I think all of us, in some form or another, whether it’s a Season 3 of Ted or a direct-to-Peacock feature with this cast, is something I think we’d all be up for. It’s all on the table.”
