Fast & Furious: Supercharged Will Rev Up Universal Studios Hollywood

We’re surprised it took them this long: Universal Studios Hollywood has announced that they will add a new attraction, Fast & Furious: Supercharged, to their amusement park, alongside the already announced West Coast version of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

We’re not surprised, of course, for two reasons: 1) Fast & Furious is now one of Universal’s most lucrative franchises, and B) the whole series plays like a Universal Studios stunt show anyway. Fast cars, crazy stunts, unbridled machismo, these are the things the old Miami Vice Stunt Show were built on.

But Fast & Furious: Supercharged isn’t a stunt show, and it isn’t even its own ride. The experience is being designed to conclude the famous Universal Studios tram ride, which already takes audiences behind the scenes of the studio and into the worlds of King Kong and Earthquake

“We’re going to make it feel like those trams are being pulled through the streets at speeds of over 100 miles per hour,” said Chick Russell, an executive producer for Universal Creative, in a recent report by The New York Times. It has also been reported that cast members from the Fast & Furious franchise have been enlisted to film new material for the theme park experience, which would constitute an all-new chapter in the hit series.

Fast & Furious: Supercharged is being prepped to debut in 2015, the same year that Fast & Furious 7 is scheduled for a theatrical release.
