NYIAS 2014: Land Rover Bringing Discovery Concepts

So, that 2014 New York International Auto Show sees its fair share of new car rollouts and concept vehicle debuts. Land Rover is reportedly jumping into the game with its debut of a new premium SUV.

The Discovery Vision Concept car will hit NYIAS 2014 to unveil “a future family of SUVs built on Land Rover’s key principles of emotive design, unrivaled capability and ultimate versatility.” So says Land Rover out of the UK, but the only glimpse we’ve had so far of the new design language is the murky image above.

During the official announcement of Land Rover’s big move at NYIAS 2014, Gerry McGovern, Design Director and Chief Creative Officer for Land Rover, said Discovery has always been such a prominent piece of the company;s line that it’s proper for the vehicle to usher in new concepts of SUV design.

“We have created the Vision Concept to share the essence of Land Rover’s new age of Discovery and to debut a new, compelling, relevant design direction that connects on an emotional level with customers of today and tomorrow,” McGovern said.

In addition to our NYIAS 2014 coverage here, I’ll be headed out this month to a special Land Rover drive opportunity. Look for more SUV news to come out of both events.
