VIDEO: Twins Prank Pitcher in Hilarious March Madness Phone Call

Spring training can turn into a serious slog for major leaguers.  It goes on forever — and by the time clubs are ready to break camp and play for real, many players and managers are pretty bored and getting more than a little punchy…which is fertile ground for some awesome pranks.

The Minnesota Twins had some time on the their hands last week — and with the NCAA March Madness tournament about to tip off, manager Ron Gardenhire decided it was time to have some fun with Twins starter Mike Pelfrey.

As this hilarious video posted by Crave sports site NESN shows, Gardenhire called Pelfrey into his office and told the Wichita State alum that he would be delivering an off-the-cuff motivational speech over the phone to his alma mater Shockers before the team took to the floor for their first-round tournament game.

As Pelfrey fumbles his way through a painfully awkward motivational speech, his Twins teammates are on the other end of the call, 10 feet away in the clubhouse, stifling their laughter as Pelfrey twists.

Clearly, Pelfrey should have talked to the REAL Wichita State Shockers, who saw their no. 1 ranking and their undefeated season end in painful second-round upset to Kentucky.

But we'll always have this video…enjoy!
