First Look: Grant Gustin as The Flash

Last fall on “Arrow,” Grant Gustin guest starred in two episodes as Barry Allen, a Central City assistant police forensic investigator who assisted Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and Team Arrow before being struck by energy from the exploding S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator. Although Allen was put into a coma by the discharge, he’ll be back in action next week when the highly anticipated pilot for “The Flash” begins filming.

Ahead of “The Flash” stand alone pilot, Warner Bros. and The CW have released the first photo of Gustin in costume as The Flash. However, the network and the studio have held back from revealing the entire costume in favor of just showing the head. But it appears to be relatively faithful to the Flash’s comic book counterpart. For comparison’s sake, this is what The Flash looks like in the comics.

Veteran costume designer Colleen Atwood is the woman behind the new Flash costume. The pilot episode of “The Flash” was written by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kriesberg and Geoff Johns with David Nutter slated to direct the first episode.

Alongside Gustin, the cast for “The Flash includes Jesse L. Martin, Candice Patton, Rick Cosnett, Tom Cavanagh, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker and TV’s original Flash, John Wesley Shipp.

“The Flash” is heavily expected to receive a series order from The CW and premiere in the fall.
