Zoe Saldana Is Having ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ on NBC

Zoe Saldana is having a baby… on TV. And you might want to hold off on the baby shower.

NBC has announced that Saldana has been signed to star in the upcoming four hour miniseries “Rosemary’s Baby;” based upon the original novel by Ira Levin. Saldana will play Rosemary, a young woman who moves into a Paris apartment with her husband before becoming pregnant under very bizarre circumstances. Soon enough, Rosemary begins to suspect that her husband and her neighbors are conspiring against her, and her child’s father is definitely not her husband.

“Rosemary’s Baby” was previously adapted as a movie with Mia Farrow as Rosemary and Roman Polanski as the director. This miniseries marks the first major TV role of Saldana’s career. Her only previous appearances on TV were in two “Law & Order” episodes and the short lived series, “Six Degrees” on ABC.

However, Saldana is much better known for her feature film roles, including Avatar, Star Trek, The Losers, Colombiana and the upcoming Marvel Studios film, Guardians of The Galaxy.

The new “Rosemary’s Baby” miniseries was written by Scott Abbott and it will be directed by Agnieszka Holland. “Rosemary’s Baby” is expected to begin production soon, but it doesn’t currently have a premiere date on NBC.
