PS4 Failure Rate Climbs to 1%

It’s not quite to the same level as Xbox 360’s red ring of death (which had 3% of their initial units fail once they got into our hands), but Sony is confirming the failure rate for the PlayStation 4 climbed from .4% just after launch to just under 1% within a week.

Crave’s CinemaBlend detailed the problems with approximately 10,000 PS4s in a report Thursday. Sony says the number of defective consoles with the red line of death is “within the expected range for a new product introduction.”

Did you get a bad PlayStation 4? Do you think it’s sabotage (thermal paste anyone?) or just bad quality control? Let us know on Crave’s Facebook.
