What Happens When A Car Crashes At 200 MPH

Wipeout is an extreme understatement of this gruesome crash. Thank God, somehow, the driver will be alright.

Here is the video description:

Brian Gillespie crashes his Hasport Hondata Insight at El Mirage dry lakes meet Nov 10th, 2013. The safety equipment worked as designed, and he escaped with relatively minor injuries. The car was the season's points champion, and was running between 180-190mph when it turned in. I contacted Brian before this posting and he agreed to YouTube it, later he will be creating something more detailed.

So basically these insane drivers get together (SCTA – Southern California Timing Association) and try to set new land-speed records out in the California's Mojave Desert. While the author of this video says Gillespie was going close to 190 MPH, some are reporting that he was hitting 200 mph+. The drivers essentially have specific reinforcements built into their cars to withstand an extreme wipeout like this one; they hope it works. We sure are glad it did this time.
