FX Renews ‘American Horror Story’ For Fourth Season

Back in 2011, Jessica Lange signed for the first season of “American Horror Story” in a supporting role before becoming the unquestioned star of the second and third seasons. Next year, Lange will be back on FX once again.

FX has officially renewed “American Horror Story” for a fourth season while confirming that Lange will headline the new season as well. As envisioned by series creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, “American Horror Story” is completely reinvented each season with a new story’ which means that Lange and any of the other returning actors will play new roles in Season 4.

In a brief statement, FX CEO John Landgraf said “Put simply, Ryan Murphy is a master television producer. Every year, they create a riveting and brilliant new miniseries. AHS: Coven is the best yet, and I have no doubt that the next installment will be even better.” 

Through its first four episodes, “American Horror Story: Coven” is not only outperforming its previous seasons, it’s also one of the most popular series in FX history with an average of 7.7 million viewers per episode. 

“American Horror Story: Coven” currently features Lange, Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett, Emma Roberts and Gabourey Sidibe starring alongside returning performers, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Taissa Farmiga, Frances Conroy, Lily Rabe, Denis O’Hare and Jamie Brewer. 

“American Horror Story” Season 4 will likely debut in October 2014 on FX.
