‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Will Tie Into Thor: The Dark World

Next week, Thor will be riding back into theaters for his second solo Marvel movie. But the Son of Odin’s latest adventure will have some repercussions for Agent Coulson’s team in “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

ABC has revealed the synopsis for the eighth episode of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” (via Entertainment Weekly)  which states that “In the aftermath of the events chronicled in the feature film Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World, Coulson and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. pick up the pieces… one of which threatens to destroy a member of the team.”

Clark Gregg appeared as Agent Coulson in the first Thor movie and shared a few scenes with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor during The Avengers, but none of the cast from Thor: The Dark World are expected to appear on the TV show. Although, there could certainly be a cameo in the episode’s tag scene. Peter MacNicol, Michael Graziadei, Erin Way, Toby Wilson, Alex Neustaedter and Sylvia Brindis are all slated to make guest appearances in the episode.

The eighth episode is called “The Well,” and it was written by Monica Owusu-Breen and directed by Jonathan Frakes, the former “Star Trek: The Next Generation” star who is also a veteran film and TV director.

Potentially, this means that “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” could also do a tie-in episode for Captain America: The Winter Soldier in April, since that movie will be released during the first season of this show.

“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” returns with new episodes next Tuesday, November 5. “The Well” will air on Tuesday, November 19.
