David Cronenberg Exhibit Hits TIFF

If you have a penchant for things that are strange, then you’ve got to check out the new David Cronenberg exhibit at TIFF.

Launching November 1st in the HSBC Gallery at TIFF Bell Lightbox, TIFF’s first major original exhibition, David Cronenberg: Evolution, follows Cronenberg’s evolution as a filmmaker with his longstanding fascination with the possibilities and perils of human evolution itself. Curated by TIFF Director & CEO Piers Handling and Artistic Director Noah Cowan, and divided into three major sections that provide a loosely chronological overview of Cronenberg’s career, the exhibition traces the development of the director’s evolutionary themes across his filmography through more than sixty original artifacts, visionary designs, and rare and unseen footage.

“Of course he had a lot of objects, he didn’t have a lot of written material, so he donated that on an ongoing basis with every subsequent film,” said Handling to the Canadian Press. “We’re very proud of this exhibition, it’s not just a gallery show… we’ve got a real sense of the arc of David’s career and many of the objects he put in the films. But at the same time it’s a comprehensive retrospective.”

David Cronenberg: Evolution runs from November 1st to January 19th. Tickets are now on sale.
