NBC Cancels ‘Ironside;’ Sets January Return For ‘Community’

Robert Ironside has solved his last case.

In the wake of anemic ratings, NBC has canceled the reboot of “Ironside” that featured Blair Underwood in the title role. “Ironside” will air one more episode next Wednesday before getting pulled from NBC’s schedule. NBC’s Thursday night comedy series, “Welcome To The Family” was less fortunate. NBC not only canceled the show, it will be pulled immediately.

With an opening on Thursday nights now available, this means that “Community” will now resume its old timeslot on Thursdays at 8pm. NBC has announced that “Community” Season 5 will premiere with back-to-back episodes on Thursday, January 2. The following week, “Parks and Recreation” will return to Thursdays at 8:30pm for its 100th episode.

“Chicago P.D.” has also gotten a premiere date: Wednesday, January 8 at 10pm, which is the same timeslot that its flagship series, “Chicago Fire” debuted in. It was also the timeslot that was occupied by “Ironside” this fall.

Meanwhile, “Sean Saves The World” has received an order for four additional scripts. “Sean” hasn’t exactly been catching fire with the ratings, but NBC seems to like the show and they can’t cancel everything… they’ve tried and it doesn’t work.
