Call of Duty: Ghosts Boosts Confidence with “Cinema Quality Assets”

Remember all those explosions and details you found astounding in the most recent Call of Duty installation? Well, be prepared for an even more mind melting experience with the newest member of the wartime family.

Despite the low amount of preorders for Call of Duty: Ghosts—at least in comparison to the series’ previous best sellers—, Mark Rubin and the rest of the development team are sure that will change. With the determination to release a highly addictive FPS yet again the crew has learned a few new tricks to persuade the gaming community that this upcoming title will stand its ground along with the rest that have come out over the years.

The biggest quality to attribute to these tricks is cinema; with the enlistment of Stephen Gaghan, a Hollywood writer accredited for movies like Syriana and Traffic, Activision is trying to bring in as much emotion and connection as humanly possible. For example, the dog has already seen its attachment of viewers all over the internet. Apart from that the story base is set to be deeper, especially considering the main character doesn’t speak a word, but this is only increasing the tenacity for an amazing game.

And if that isn’t enough, Mark Rubin revealed in an interview with GamesIndustry International that the graphics are going to get that extra silver screen boost above the competition. Or at least the idea is elicited via his statement:

What we’ve done with this generation change, especially for the art pipeline, that being the biggest difference, is we’re making our big art assets at cinema quality, not even PC quality, but above next-gen. It’s at this really amazing looking cinema quality asset. What we’re doing, we use that and we create assets for each platform that are the best for the platform. So now every platform, instead of having a sort of average art asset, they’re getting the best asset for that platform.

So with that and all the extra goodies in store, one can only hope that despite the low preorder rates Ghosts will prevail in bringing the mind numbingly awesome game that the beginning of the next-gen needs.
