Donald Glover Will Create And Star In a New Comedy At FX

Last month, word broke that Donald Glover will be leaving “Community” after the first five episodes of the season. Just a few weeks later, Glover has already landed a new series.

Deadline is reporting that Glover has signed with FX to create and star in a new comedy series tentatively called “Atlanta;” which will be set against the backdrop of the Atlanta music scene.

According to the report, FX will accommodate Glover’s music touring schedule as Childish Gambino; which is one of the ways that the network was able to entice him. Glover grew up in Atlanta, but it’s not clear if his new project will be autobiographical. Glover was previously attached to a NBC comedy pilot loosely based on his life during the last development season, but that project did not get a pilot order.

One of the implications of Glover’s new project is that he won’t be back at all for a potential sixth season of “Community.” Potentially, Glover could make guest appearances on “Community,” but between a new TV show and his musical career, it doesn’t look very likely.
