‘Breaking Bad’ Debuts ‘Ozymandias’ Teaser Trailer

From the very beginning of “Breaking Bad,” series creator Vince Gilligan has described the odyssey of Walter White (Bryan Cranston) as “Mr. Chips turns into Scarface.”

It’s arguable as to whether Walter was truly a Mr. Chips. And even as Heisenberg, Walt’s never been as powerful as Scarface. Although given how Scarface ended, Walt may want to avoid that. But the question remains: was Walt ever really a good man? Or did his illicit activities simply shine a light on who was all along?

Next month, the final eight episodes of “Breaking Bad” will debut and we’ll get a definitive ending for Walt. AMC and Gilligan are notoriously cagey about sharing footage from upcoming seasons, so we haven’t gotten a very good glimpse of what’s coming up.

Instead of a standard teaser, AMC has released a new trailer that shows some haunting looks at a few familiar locations from the show as Cranston reads from Percy Bysshe Shelley’s ”Ozymandias.” And it’s creepily effective.

The critically acclaimed explosive drama that Variety calls “simply one of TV’s great addictions” has garnered a total of six Emmys wins, a Peabody Award, and was named to the American Film Institute’s (AFI) list of the “Top 10 Programs of the Year” in 2008, 2010 and 2011.  “Breaking Bad” returns to AMC on Sunday, August 11 at 9 p.m./8 p.m. Central, followed by the premiere of the new AMC drama series “Low Winter Sun.”

The Detroit-set crime thriller starring Mark Strong and Lennie James begins with the murder of a cop by a fellow detective in a world where the line between cops and criminals is blurred.  “Low Winter Sun” will debut its 10-episode first season Sundays at 10 p.m. through October.
