Comic-Con 2013: Marvel TV Panel Report

The screening of the “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” pilot was Marvel’s biggest television event of Comic-Con International. But Marvel’s President of TV, Jeph Loeb broke some more news at the annual Marvel TV panel.

The biggest announcement coming out of the panel is that “Ultimate Spider-Man” is coming back for a third season on Disney XD. Along with the announcement, Loeb showed off a photo of Spider-Man meeting the Avengers, drawn in the same model and lineup of  “Avengers Assemble.” Loeb also previewed the upcoming “Ultimate Spider-Man” episode featuring the Guardians of the Galaxy” and the Chitauri, with the teenage Nova playing a significant role in the story.

Loeb then turned his attention towards the “Hulk And The Agents of S.M.A.S.H.” as he praised the voice cast before showing the audience a full episode of the series. In the episode, Hulk and his team travel to the Savage Land to take on Sauron, while giving confessionals to the camera in the style of “The Office” and “Parks and Recreation.” Not all of the jokes landed, but the format has possibilities.

To wrap up the panel, Loeb debuted a new episode of “Avengers Assemble” that brought in Hyperion, Marvel’s first analog for Superman… which the episode played up on. The episode was written by the Man of Action team and it seemed to be one of the first times that the series has really recaptured some of the tone from the Avengers feature film.
