Devils’ Goalie Martin Brodeur To Be On Cover Of NHL 14

After 20 years with the NHL, New Jersey Devils’ goalie Martin Brodeur has earned the honour of appearing on the cover of the new video game NHL 14, due out in North America on September 10th.

The goalie was chosen by fans to appear on the new EA Sports’ title. More than 22 million votes were cast. It’s the first time since NHL ’97 that a goalie has appeared on the cover, with John Vanbiesbrouck making the cut.

“The support I’ve received throughout the cover vote campaign has been incredible,” the 41-year-old Brodeur said in a statement Friday (as reported by The Canadian Press). “My kids pushed me to participate in the campaign, and they are really excited to see their dad on the cover of the game they play all the time.”

“I’m really excited to get voted on to the NHL 14 cover,” Brodeur told the Devils’ website (NHL.com). “I think it’s a great honor for me and for my family to represent not just myself but the New Jersey Devils on the cover of the EA Sports NHL game.”
