‘The Simpsons’ Go Classic Disney In Newest Couch Gag

While The Simpsons TV series has carved out a place for itself in animation history, one of the earliest innovators in the field was Walt Disney Animation and their feature length cartoons. And this Sunday, The Simpsons are going to pay homage to the classic Disney films in a new couch gag from animation legend Eric Goldberg!

And when we say “legend,” we’re not exaggerating. Goldberg has been a professional animator for almost 40 years, with an impressive list of credits that includes Aladdin, Hercules, Fantasia 2000The Emperor’s New Groove, and Wreck-It Ralph. He’s also the head of animation for Disney’s upcoming animated film, Moana

Ahead of Sunday’s episode, Fox has released Goldberg’s couch gag, which puts Maggie in a Steamboat Willie style, while Lisa becomes Cinderella, and Marge embraces her inner Snow White. Homer’s Disney reference is a very timely Jungle Book callback, while Bart becomes the Sorcerer’s Apprentice from Fantasia.

Of course, the episode in question, “Fland Canyon,” has absolutely nothing to do with that great couch gag. Here’s Fox’s description for the episode:

“Homer recalls a tense family vacation to the Grand Canyon with the Flanders family. At first, the Flanders’ perfection puts the families at odds, but when they get stranded and Ned and Bart go for help, the families finally bond.”

The Simpsons will air Goldberg’s couch gag on Sunday at 8pm on Fox.
