Fox Renews ‘Sleepy Hollow’ For Fourth Season

There a lot of TV shows that were canceled this week, but Sleepy Hollow has beaten the odds at Fox and will haunt again next season!

Deadline has confirmed that Fox has officially renewed Sleepy Hollow for a fourth season. But it was touch and go for a while. The third season struggled to hold on to its audience on Friday nights. Deadline’s report suggests that Sleepy Hollow’s strong international sales probably played a key role in keeping the series around. Minority Report and Second Chance weren’t as lucky. Both of those shows have been canned.

There are spoilers ahead if you haven’t seen the third season finale of Sleepy Hollow! You’ve been warned:

In the season finale, Nicole Beharie’s Abbie Mills was killed off, leaving Tom Mison’s Ichabod Crane as the last remaining “Witness” to the apocalypse. The closing moments of the season suggested that Crane would begin searching for the new witness to take her place. Since Lyndie Greenwood is remaining on the show as Abbie’s sister, Jenny, she could potentially be promoted to be the new female lead. But it’s just as likely that the show’s creative team will hire a new actress to play the next witness.

Now that Sleepy Hollow has been renewed, the show’s writers will break stories for the fourth season and it should be only a few weeks or months before we learn who will step up and become Crane’s new partner. Lance Gross and Jessica Camacho are both expected to remain with the series next year as well.
