Diplo Year-End Mix Just Won The New Year’s Eve Playlist Game

Nobody wants to hear your halfassed party playlist on New Year’s Eve, but Diplo just dropped a solution: his year-end roundup playlist, which just dropped like a ball of beat-bursting lava.

During his Saturday night takeover on BBC Radio 1 XTRA, the producer/rapper/DJ delivered the goods. “This is the most important mix of the year,” the Mad Decent mastermind declared at the beginning of the two-hour show. “What a crazy year. Me personally, I was busy as hell doing all kinds of stuff… Busy year, but what an amazing year for music in general. Club music, all over the world, has taken over, and it’s got a hell of a lot cooler.”

The triple-Grammy nominee (for best dance recording for “Where Are U Now,” best dance/electronic album for Skrillex and Diplo Present Jack U, and producer of the year) personally crafted the two-hour year-end mix, which includes Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Calvin Harris, Rihanna, Big Sean, Fetty Wap and tons of others.

There’s something oddly fascinating about the transition from Drake’s “Hotline Bling” into Justin Bieber’s cover of the same track, we’ll admit. But the blond beatmaker made a nice spotlight for himself as well, ending the set with a Post Malone/Jack Ü mash-up, “Where Are Ü Now,” and his Sleepy Tom collaboration “Be Right There.”
