Wayne Rooney Will “Miss Next Game Due to Undisclosed Legal Reasons”

Wayne Rooney will reportedly miss Manchester United’s next match against Norwich, though the reasoning behind his absence has been undisclosed due to “legal reasons”.

While Rooney has missed United’s last three games due to an ankle injury he suffered against Premier League leaders Leicester last month, in a report from United insider Andy Mitten it is claimed that the captain will also miss out on the club’s next game – even though he has returned to full training with his squad – with Mitten unable to disclose any further information due to legal reasons.

The report was posted on trusted Scandinavian Manchester United fan site United.no (the article’s hidden behind a paywall), with speculation now mounting in regards to what could have prevented Mitten from being able to expand upon his report. Though Rooney has been sidelined due to an injury over the past few weeks, it seems unlikely that Mitten would have been prevented from discussing this by United.

Man U fan site UtdReport.com previously posted a rumour claiming that alcohol had been found in Rooney’s blood samples, which were taken at the club’s Carrington training ground. Though this is speculation and has not been confirmed by the club, some are now suggesting that these two reports are linked.

Others are suggesting that Rooney could potentially be moving away from the club in the January transfer window, with him being benched by manager Louis van Gaal in order for the Dutchman to test out new attacking formations.

However, these two reports are purely speculation, and neither Manchester United nor Wayne Rooney have given an update in regards to whether or not the striker will be present at Old Trafford on Saturday.
